Prudhoe Bay to Fairbanks: A Haul Road Experience

By Adam Fender   |   6/26/2023

One of the most difficult and amazing rides in Alaska starts at mile marker zero of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, where riders embark on a 500+ mile bikepacking trip through the rugged terrain of Alaska, from the oil fields of Prudhoe Bay to the city of Fairbanks. My longtime friend, Bill "The Runner" Jackson, and I spent 10 days on the Dalton Highway, aka the "Haul Road," dodging rain, mud, semi-trucks, and the occasional encounter of muskox and grizzly bears. This unforgettable journey tested my limits and left us with a lifetime of memories...

Kissing the pavement

After hundreds of miles of gravel roads, a paved surface was a welcome sight!
