By Adam Fender | 9/1/2023
Embark on your adventure with the right gear. At Feral Rides, we understand the importance of great gear. That's why I'm here help explain all the essentials you'll need to pack. In this article I will break down the pros and cons of every essential piece of gear to ensure you're strapping what works best for you. From tents to sleeping bags, dry bags to rain gear, and everything in between, this guide has the answers you need to get started...

The most important piece of equipment you need for any bikepacking adventure is the bike. Notice all the bags and attachments. This helps to balance the weight on the bike and create an easier ride overall.

A tent or shelter is key to keeping yourself out of the elements. Remember that not all tents are created equal, and just because it's being packed on your bike doesn't mean you should ignore its weight.

Sleep systems have lots of options. Just pick one that works for you. Remember, "A cold, uncomfortable night makes for a lousy ride the next day!"

For those rainy days, a good set of raingear is worth its weight in gold. Make sure you select something that allows you to breathe as well as keeps you dry.

Before embarking on any trip, I like to make sure I have everything I need. I use this awesome pro tip called staging. Staging is where you lay your gear out around the bike before you pack. Doing this helps you figure out where it will go on the bike and helps keep your rig balanced.
