How to Not Sacrifice on Taste with Your Next Bikepacking Meal

Have you ever just pedaled a bunch of miles and the only thing you want is to sit in camp and enjoy some tasty dinner, but upon that first bite all you want to do is throw it away? There's nothing quite as deflating as the first mouthful of some horrible bikepacking meal. It was a situation just like this that pushed me into a deep dive into the world of backpacking meals and taste. I wanted to know why there are meals out there that create a culinary displeasure and how to make food that is not only nutritious, but also delicious...

After a long ride, my nephew and I enjoy "homemade" meal of canned chicken, rice, and curry sauce. I've found that some meals don't always taste the best so my solution is to mix up stuff I know will and pack that instead.

Tortillas are a great way to add flavor to any meal. Besides, everything tastes better when it's wrapped up like a taco!

Sometimes you don't need to pack anything on the bike to enjoy a tasty treat. Wild berries are great by the handful or bag some up and mix them in with your oatmeal in the mornings. Always make sure that you research what berries are edible in the areas you ride.

Remember, after every delicious meal you make and eat, the dishes need to be cleaned up. A stream or creek is a great way to accomplish this chore.
